Certificates of Appropriateness.
1) 100 South St.
Chris Mack – want to replace the kitchen window facing the rear of the property. One unit, 2 double hung windows side by side, no grill. Trim and stain to remain the same.
Stephen Selvek – concern from a preservation standpoint in using vinyl. The Board has dealt with this before. As it is in the back there is not as great a concern as if it were in the front.
Jim Hutchinson – makes a move to approve the application, seconded by Paul McDonald. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
Chris Mack – expresses an interest in joining the Board.
Mike Deming – advises him to send his C.V. to Stephen Selvek.
Mike Deming – questions if more work is being done at the corner of Fitch and South than what was allowed.
Stephen Selvek – they shouldn’t be doing more than the roof and paint. I will check with Codes.
Mike Deming – Asks if Council can get someone to establish guidelines for a window policy.
Jim Hutchinson – wants to leave the policy flexible.
Stephen Selvek – having someone come in and establish guidelines would invalidate everything this Board has done nor would it be well received by the mind-set of this community.
General discussion.
Stephen Selvek – We can look at the policy in general terms but we’d have to expand to other areas also.
Jim Hutchinson – thinks this would be opening a can of worms. We can apply our own policy.
Next meeting schedule for March 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Meeting adjourned.
